Great CampTUESDAY      In the early 1900s the wealthy industrialists from New York City chose the Adirondack Mountains to build their "Great Camps" -- retreats for the rich and famous! Accommodations are at the beautiful Beeches Lodge, located on 52 acres in Rome, NY. It's a 90-year tradition--the Savoy Restaurant has a wonderful get-acquainted dinner and entertainment planned for us this evening. (D)

WEDNESDAY      All aboard the "Adirondack Scenic Railroad" at the Thendara Station in an open air, vintage coach. Dine in fine style aboard the W. W. Durant while cruising Raquette Lake, the largest natural lake in the Adirondack Preserve. Sail past many of the fabled Great Camps. Get an in-depth look at Sagamore Lodge, said to be typical of the Great Camps built for the likes of the Morgans, Huntingtons, and Vanderbilts. (B,L,D)

THURSDAY     It's time to turn our wheels homeward. Buffalo is on our route, and lunch is included here. Let's explore the history and culture of the second largest metropolitan area in New York State, including a stop at Our Lady of Victory Basilica, reminiscent of the finest cathedrals in Europe. Returning to reality, it's been fun to discover a lifestyle of the past. (B,L)
